New Free pattern release: Spring Sparkle Cowl

Remember the Spring Sparkle Shawl that was released last month?   Red Heart sent me some  Tealessence Boutique Swanky Yarn to try and I think the color is amazing!

This yarn is so soft and drapes well.  Since I've been working on the Battle of the Stitches crochet challenge for the past few weeks and using the Rocky Road crochet stitch, I thought it would be great to make a cowl with it.  You may use other yarns for this pattern, but the results will be different.  Boutique Swanky has a nice stretch to it and works well with this stitch pattern. 

Such a fun way to dress up any outfit!  I can't wait to get some more Swanky and work up some of these cowls for gifts.

­­Spring Sparkle Cowl
 Size: 2’, 3’, 4’, 5’                            
Materials: 1-2 skeins Red Heart Boutique Swanky Yarn
Hook: Size G                                                               
Gauge: This pattern is worked to desired measurements and does not require a beginning gauge
Stitches: Sl St –Slip Stitch                                                       
               sp – Space
               ch – Chain
               SC – Single Crochet
               DC – Double Crochet
             
Note: Boutique Swanky yarn stretches well for this design.  You can use other yarns but end results will not be the same.   Chain in multiples of 4 +2 until you reach 2', 3', 4', 5'

 R1: Turn, SC in 2nd ch from hook, *(SC, Ch 2, 2 DC) in next ch sp, sk 2 ch sp, SC in next ch sp,* Rep *to*, make sure cowl is not twisted, sl st to beginning SC to form a ring.

 R2: Ch 1, Turn, *(SC, Ch 2, 2 DC) in next SC, sk 2 DC & Ch sp, SC in next SC* Rep *to* around, SC in end st, sl st to beginning SC to connect.

 R3: Ch 1, Turn, SC in next st, *(SC, Ch 2, 2 DC) in next SC, sk 2 DC & Ch 2 sp, SC in next SC* rep *to* around, Sl St to beginning SC to connect.

 Repeat rows 2 & 3 until you reach 6”, 8”, 10” or desired height.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

      The stitch for this needs 4 spaces, so you chain in multiples of 4 until you reach the length you want. Then you chain 2 extra that will be used to turn and complete the round.

      Hi Kelly,
      You chain in multiples of 4 until you reach the length you want and then chain 2 extra. Then you start row 1 instructions.

    Love this!!!!! The 1st time I seen this pattern I immediatly went online and bought a few Skeins of this Swanky yarn. I just got it in yesterday and as soon as I get over this awful cold I'm gonna crochet one for all the girls in my life (including myself) :-)
