July 2011
I forgot I had this one started. Sometimes the bad thing about trying to use up the extra yarn is running out and having to go buy more. I was 2 rows short and decided to stash it in a shoe box to finish later and just noticed it again the other day.

June 2011:
I'm trying to get rid of all the extra yarn I have hanging around the house, so I was able to complete a few blankets for a hospital in June.

A friend of mine has been putting together a box with a blanket and clothes and giving them to hospitals for babies who pass away. The babies are dressed and wrapped in the blankets and the nurses take pictures of them for the family. Then, everything is put in the box and given to the family to keep. She is an amazingly generous and talented woman and I decided to help her out, so I have been able to crochet a handful of afghans for her. They are only 24"x24", so most of them only take me a day or 2 to complete. I had some extra yarn, so I was also able to make a few hats and headbands.

Granny square afghans are not my favorite, but my stake did a humanitrian project years ago and had all the women make 9" granny squares to make afghans from. We were supposed to all turn them in and them meet at the church house to put them together. I could picture some really wierd combinations coming from this, so I decided to just stitch all of mine together. It saved them time...and they looked ok.
