Woot Woot!  I'm so excited to finally be able to show you the design I've been working on for the Battle of the Stitches round 13 crochet challenge.  If you're following along in the blog hop with all of us, you should be joining me from Kaleidoscope Art & Gift's blog and have already seen and voted for your favorites out of these 6 designs.

If you're seeing this because you follow my blog, you'll want to click HERE to start at the beginning.  There are a bunch of fun new designs using this same stitch, you get to vote for your favorites AND you can enter to win various prizes along the way!  Be sure to follow through all 10 blog posts so you don't miss out on the big prizes at the end.

So, are you ready to see what I designed?

Slanted Puff crochet stitch
This round, all 9 designers chose the stitch we were going to use together.  We decided on the Slanted Puff stitch. You can view the basic stitch instructions HERE on the Battle of the Stitches blog along with a chart and a few stitch placement photos to help you if needed. Typically, puff stitches are used for designs during the colder months because of the of the extra yarn they use.  They are generally paired with solid stitches for warmth.  This stitch is a fun one to work because it also uses a V-stitch which opens it up and is great for spring and summer designs.

I knew that I wanted to design another afghan but didn't just want to do a larger size of the basic stitch swatch.  I liked the way that the stitch looked when using 2 different colors and thought it would be fun to work in the round instead of just square.
After designing my Heartbeat Chevron Afghan, I made a list of other shapes that I wanted to try and a ribbon was one of them - but could I do it and make it look just right?

The challenge was on!  Make it round, make the puff's show at their best and make the ribbon work...

I LOVE, love, love how it turned out!  Sweet and springy and dainty and fun. Hurry over and vote for it by giving it a "HEART" and adding it to your favorites on Ravelry HEREhttp://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rings-of-ribbon-spring-afghan
