Caron Simply Soft Yarn
Finished size is customizable and materials required will vary based on finished desired size.
Crochet hook size J
Gauge: 7 DC & 4 Rows = 2"
Skill Level: Easy
Materials: 15-60oz I used Caron Simply Soft Yarn.  You can use any 4ww yarn of choice though your finished sizes may vary from what is written here.

Stitches:
St(s) - Stitch(es)
Sk - Skip
Sl St - Slip Stitch
Ch - Chain
YO - Yarn Over
SC - Single Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
FHDC - Foundation Half Double Crochet
Lp(s) - Loop(s)
7 Shell - 7 DC in same stitch indicated
Picot - SC, Ch 3, sl st into side of SC just made
Cluster (CL) - (YO, insert hook into indicated st, pull up a loop,      
                        pull through 2 loops on hook)3x, YO, pull through 
                        all 4 loops on hook

Note: Turning Ch 3 will count as a DC
          Each 7 Shell will line up center in each row (always worked in 4th DC)

Begin with a FHDC in multiples of 25 + 22 to desired width/length.  A chain of 74 is about 26"

R1:

Repeat R2 & R3 to desired length ending in R2 instructions.  Do NOT fasten off

Border:
Ch 1, rotate to work down side of blanket, work 2 SC around each DC/Ch 3 to bottom corner working 2 SC in the corner.  Rotate to work across bottom foundation chain, *work 1 SC between each foundation HDC until you reach the sk 4 sections, work 3 SC between each of the 4 skipped stitches,* Repeat the *to* section until you reach the next bottom corner, work 2 SC in corner, rotate to work up next side of blanket, work 2 SC around each DC/Ch 3 to top corner, Fasten off and weave in end.

  1. This is a very pretty pattern. I would like to make it to fit a king sized bed. I have never adjusted a pattern for size before. Could you please explain what is meant by "multiplies of 25 + 22 to desired width/length"? Thanks so much.

  2. Hi Sandy,
    To work this to a king size, you'll need to chain in multiples of 25 until you are close to the width you want and then chain 22 more in order to account for all the stitches needed. I would suggest working a small swatch first so you can figure out how wide or 2 sections are prior to starting a larger project as the peeks of the chevron will pull the width in from what your foundation chain is.
