New Crochet Pattern

Woo Hoo!!!  We have a new pattern release for you this week and I'm so excited about it.  I love the look of the Basket Weave crochet stitch, but it is usually used in just straight rows or rounds.  I wanted something fun and unique and was determined to design with it.  Chevrons have been my "thing" lately and when that "Ah Ha" moment came, I was jumping for joy!

Choosing Color

As I've mentioned before, color is not my strength right now when releasing patterns.  I have my favorite color schemes and they work well for my home and I often create new designs for friends and family using their home interior design as the inspiration for their item.  While I think they always turn out beautifully, they are not always colors that speak to others from a website saying "BUY ME NOW"   lol.

Here is a tip though: When looking at patterns, pay attention to the actual design and not the color that was used.  Color will catch your attention, but remember, it is easy to change to your own style.  Look at the style and texture of the design and if it's something that works for you, close your eyes an picture it in your own favorite colors.

For this design, I found the Caron Simply Soft color called Robins Egg in our local store.  I HAD to have it!  It's is just beautiful and must be very popular because there was only 1 skein left and it took me a while to be able to order some more online.  Now, what goes with Robins Egg?

These were the 2 sets of color combos that I chose at the store.  While I love the calmness of the blue shades together, I wanted something a little different for a photo prop and went with the Taupe, Robins Egg and White shown above.
I have started a larger afghan also, but decided to go a different route in colors for that size and I think it will be amazing when it's finished.
