Typically, I'm behind the scenes of the Battle since I created it. I'm the one who chooses the themes and stitches and sets up who is judging, all the prizes, giveaways and sharing. It's a LOT of work but extremely well worth it! This round, I really wanted to be on the other side of the fence and be a challenger. I asked Jennifer from Little Luvies Shop and Lisa from Kaleidoscope Art & Gifts to help me out so I could compete fairly. They have done an wonderful job and this has been quite the experience for me!
12 Crochet Designers were given the theme of "Love is in the Air" to design around and a specific stitch, the Love Knot (Solomn's Knot) that was to remain the main focus of the design. I have to admit, I LOVE the theme, but when I heard we were going to use the Love Knot as our stitch, I panicked a little. I already had an idea of what I wanted to design based on the theme, but the stitch literally threw me for a loop...lol.
I was determined to stick with my original idea and I HAD to make this stitch work! It's not a hard stitch by any means. The struggle is keeping your tension consistent, but after working it for a while, it was really quick to work and I think we will have some awesome designs once again!
My suggestion for those who have not used this stitch before is practice. We will be releasing an eBook on New Years with ALL 12 challenger designs and a few bonus designs from Jennifer and Lisa as admins. The eBook will include a stitch tutorial and once you practice getting the proper height on each stitch, you're good to go! Don't be afraid to work this stitch. It's actually kind of fun and very pretty when complete. So, now that you have 1 inside scoop, I'd love to hear your guesses as to what you think each design will be and who designed it. We have some prizes up for grabs on the Battle Blog if you comment there AND you have a chance to win EVERY pattern from my shop released to date!
