Featured Crafter - Too Yarn Cute

Stacy from Too Yarn Cute
This week our feature is Too Yarn Cute Crochet Designs by Stacy who is also the owner of Too Yarn Cute Magazine.  I've had the pleasure of becoming friends with Stacy over the last few months and she is such a kind and sweet person who really wants to help others learn and grow.  Even though I have never met her in person,  I value the friendship we have gained through our love of crochet!

Here's your chance to get to know more about her businesses.

What is your main business focus?
Too Yarn Cute on Twitter
We love to feature "Up and Coming" designers along with "Seasoned" designers in our magazine.  We are a mix between and e-book and a print magazine, so we will take your patterns and put it into a magazine layout, but at the same time, it's still printer friendly for your fans and our readers.  Having your pattern in a  magazine really makes it shine and highlights you as a designer.

What is your greatest accomplishment or what are you most proud of?
One thing I'm proud of is that we have listened to our contributing designers as well as our fans.  Our line of communication is always open for everyone!  We have made many changes since debuting our first issue 8 months ago, and that is because of the wonderful suggestions and yes, even complaints to make our magazine better.  I was told once by my team member, "You gave birth to this baby and it takes a village to raise it."  That really stuck with me!  All of this has made the eMag what it is today and we continue to grow.

What is something you struggle with?
There are many struggles, but to make a spin on it, Too Yarn Cute Crochet Magazine is the internet's  "Best kept secret".  Our exposure is slowly gaining despite all the Rules that Face Book and many other social sites have changed.

What is your "Go To" tool of choice for design inspiration?
As silly as it is, when I'm in a designing mood for my own personal designs but I'm out of ideas, I ask my husband or my kids.  Many of the designs I have come up with is just by inspiration of watching or asking those around me.
What is something crazy/fun about you that others may not know
Oh my gosh!!  I have to share with you my favorite snack - Sour Cream/Cheddar Chips dipped in cottage cheese!  YUM!!
Crazy Fact:  I personally don't think it's "crazy" because I don't know any different, but when people find out, they always say "That's crazy - how do you do it?!"... I just do.  I'm hard of hearing and legally blind with under 20% of my vision remaining.  Tunnel Vision is what most people understand it as.  My vision is progressively deteriorating and will eventually be gone.  My piece of advice - See everything with brand new eyes.  There is bound to be something you've never seen in it before.  As for how I do it, I have "Tools".  My computer is equipped with zooming technology as well as "text to speech" programs.  If you ask me, that voice is extremely annoying, so I use zoom a lot more than speech!  My husband is probably the tool that I use the most.  He tells me if I'm using Yellow or Pink, black or blue and also sets up a space for me to photograph items in.  He's also a great handsome model too!

Something exciting I want to mention is that Too Yarn Cute Magazine has teamed up with Furls and Red Heart.  Furls has some absolutely amazing crochet hooks and if you haven't heard of them, I highly recommend that you check out their site.
Red Heart has released some very fun products in the last little while such as the *Sassy Fabric & *Sassy Lace and *Reflective Yarn and *Boutique Swanky.  Such a great variety of yarn to try.
AND... TYC published a special edition of the Battle of the Stitches crochet challenge that is hosted by Crafting Friends Designs.  THAT was so cool to see all the designs come together for Mother's Day.  If you haven't picked up your copy, you still have time to get it and show your love by giving the gift of handmade!  Available here: TYC Battle of the Stitches Special edition

  1. Stacy is an amazing woman. I can not imagine the hurdles she faces each day knowing she is losing her sight. What makes her even more beautiful and a amazing designer is that she is doing it with such limited sight. She is a true inspiration.
